I've changed hosting companies

Not much content published over the last week or so and the reason being is that I've changed hosting companies. Previously I was with Servage.net but it became apparent that I had to upgrade to a quicker system. I'm now hosted by Drupal Value Hosting.

It's no easy process changing hosting companies and I see it as two distinct phases:

  1. Choosing a new host; and
  2. Process of changing over.

For both of these topics I'm going to write up some short articles explaining the processes I adopted.

This site should now run consistently quicker than before and hopefully with not as many outages.

Looking Forward!

Looking forward to these articles.

I am with Hostmonster, they are about $7/mo for unlimited everything pretty much, however my site does tend to slow down a bit at times.

If it weren't for those random slow-downs, I would say Hostmonster is the best one ever.

I do dread the day I need to switch servers, but at the same time I know it will be because I have too many users which is a great thing. So hopefully by then I will be a true PHP/Drupal/MySQL ninja!

First article is done.

I got the first article out of the way - can be found here. Just need to sit down and write the second article relating to the process of moving files around. This one is a bit more involved but will get around to it.

When the second article's done I'll probably merge all the articles together using the 'book' principle, similar to the Wordpress to Drupal manual or the C++ book.

I've started

I've started putting together a guide as to transferring hosts. It's in a book style as there are many steps involved. The handbook can be found here.
